Guggenheim Bilbao guided tours with admission: which format to book

Nineteen tours from €11.64 to €350, median €119. A group guide starts at €45, a private one at €230, and the museum's own €12 ticket already includes an audio guide.

If you are comparing Guggenheim Museum Bilbao guided tours with admission, start here: a tour is not the way to get in. It is the way to get a person, a fixed time and a route.

This page sorts the 19 tours in our catalogue by format: ticket-only, group, small group, private, and the longer days that start in San Sebastián or Biarritz. Prices run from €11.64 to €350 and the middle one is €119. We say what each format costs, who it suits and when you can skip it. Nothing here describes the building or the artworks; our page on the museum itself does that.

We compared the listings on 3 November 2026 by reading their inclusions, not their titles, because "VIP access" and "private small group" can mean almost anything. Where a listing does not say something, such as a group cap or a cancellation rule, we say that too, and we suggest you ask the operator before paying.

This is an independent site. We are not affiliated with the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao or the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, and we sell tours operated by other companies through Viator, Tiqets and Civitatis.

What a guided tour adds to a Guggenheim Bilbao ticket

Start with what you already get for nothing. The museum's adult ticket is €12, students aged 18 to 26 and over-65s pay €6, under-18s enter free, and the price includes an audio guide. A combined ticket with the Museo de Bellas Artes is €16. We read these figures on the museum's hours-and-admission page on 3 November 2026.

So a tour from a third party sells you something else. A guide who answers questions, a group that leaves at a set time, sometimes a route that starts on the square outside and sometimes one that leaves the building altogether for the city. If the €12 ticket and the audio guide are enough for you, the cheapest advice on this page is to buy that and stop reading.

A €65 group tour that includes admission costs about €53 more than the museum's own ticket. That difference is the price of the guide.

The 19 tours compared, by format

We grouped the tours by what they actually are, not by the label in the title. Titles such as "VIP access" or "private small group" tell you very little, so we read the inclusions and the stated group sizes.

The 19 tours by format. Prices are the providers' "from" figures in euro in our catalogue on 3 November 2026; the museum's own ticket is €12.

Starts in San Sebastián or Biarritz5€95 to €350, median €2854 to 11 hours53Visitors based on the coast

The weighted rating across all 19 is 4.69, but the reviews are lopsided. One Civitatis small-group tour, 90 minutes at €90, has 793 reviews at 4.8, which is 49% of the 1,616 on the whole page. Take the other averages with that in mind: the private and coast-based rows rest on a few dozen opinions between them.

Ticket only: what €11.64 buys

Two products are tickets, not tours. The cheaper, listed at €11.64, sits almost exactly at the price of the museum's own ticket and shows three options, so read what the cheapest contains. The other pairs an e-ticket with a gelato tasting at €25. Neither adds a guide, and they have 17 reviews between them.

Group tours: the €45 to €150 band

Five tours belong here. At €45, the Tiqets "Frank Gehry and Bilbao tour" guides you around the outside of the museum and the neighborhood; the listing says the interior is visited on your own. At €65 there is a plain guided visit of 90 minutes (91 reviews, 4.7). A visit in Spanish costs €49, and a tour led by working artists €89.50. At €150, Tiqets pairs a skip-the-line ticket with a two-hour guided visit; the listing we read caps the group at 15, asks you to arrive ten minutes early outside the museum, and says the booking cannot be refunded or moved.

Small groups: the format with the most reviews

Four tours fill this slot, €90 to €180, and they hold 1,130 of the 1,616 reviews. The Civitatis one at €90 is the volume leader. A Viator tour at €95 sells "VIP access" and rates lowest of the busy ones, 4.4 across 223 reviews. A third, at €119, calls itself a "private small group", which could mean either; ask. The fourth, €180 for three hours, adds a tasting of Basque products and has 15 reviews averaging 4.0. None of the listings gives a group cap we could check, so ask for the maximum, not the word "small".

Private tours in Bilbao

Three private tours stay in the city, from €230 to €261.34. The Civitatis one lasts 90 minutes. A Viator tour at €232.78 runs two hours and, in its own description, is half city and half museum. The third is a four-hour private walk at €261.34 that splits the day between the museum and the streets outside. With 76 reviews among the three, the evidence is thin. Check at checkout whether the price is per party or per person.

Before you pay

Read the inclusions, not the title

The word "with admission" is not uniform. One tour on this page gives you a guide for the outside only. Another lets you choose between a private option that includes the ticket and a shared one that does not. A third lists a visit but names no ticket among its inclusions.

We went through each listing and counted 18 of 19 that put the museum ticket among what you pay for. That is our reading of the inclusions on 3 November 2026, not a promise from the museum, so look at the list again on the day you book.

Days that start in San Sebastián or Biarritz

Five of the 19 are mostly transport with a museum attached. The cheapest, €95 for six hours, combines the Ribera market and the museum on a day from San Sebastián. The others run from €250 for eight hours to €340 for eleven hours from Biarritz. They answer a different question: how to fit the museum in when you sleep on the coast. Their 53 reviews are too few to rank them.

The museum's rules for outside guides

The museum does allow guides from other companies. It regulates them, and few booking pages mention how. From its guided tours and groups page, read on 3 November 2026:

What the museum asks of a group that brings its own guide.
Rule What it says
Group sizeApplies to groups of 8 or more with their own guide
EntryIn slots of one hour
Time per gallery5 minutes in each room
BookingFree, but compulsory; the museum can refuse entry without it
At the doorThe group leader registers at the information desk with the booking code
RecordingNot allowed during the visit
Large groupsMore than 20 people should buy tickets at least one week ahead

The practical effect: an operator who runs a group tour should have done the booking for you. The five-minutes-per-room rule also explains why group routes feel brisk. The museum offers its own guided visits too, lasting 60 minutes; we did not recheck their rates, so we do not quote them.

When you do not need a tour

Skip the tour if you are traveling alone, if your time is short, or if you have already read about the building. Skip it if you prefer to stand in front of a piece for ten minutes without a group moving on. The audio guide in the €12 ticket covers the basics, and it does not ask you to keep pace with anyone.

Buy one for a child or an older relative who will get more from a person than a headset.

Skip the line, and what you are buying

Several titles promise skip-the-line entry. Read it as "your ticket is bought and your slot is fixed". No listing promises an empty hall.

A tour at a fixed time saves you the ticket desk. It does not make the museum any less busy once you are inside.

What to ask before you book

Five questions settle most doubts. Is the museum ticket included, and is the guide inside the galleries? What is the maximum group size? In which language does the guide speak? Where do you meet, and how many minutes early? What happens if you cancel? Tiqets says its guided ticket is non-refundable, and the museum's own tickets cannot be refunded once issued. For the others we found no cancellation policy we could verify.

Days and dates to check

The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 19:00. In 2026 it also opens on a few Mondays; those left are 7 and 28 December. It is closed on 25 December and 1 January. Booking calendars do not always know this, so check a Monday departure against the museum's page. Prices and hours change by season; check them again before you travel.

Questions about Guggenheim Bilbao guided tours

How much is a guided tour of the Guggenheim Bilbao?

A group tour starts at €45 and a private tour at €230; the median of all 19 products is €119 ("from" prices, 3 November 2026).

Is admission included in the tour price?

For 18 of the 19 products the listing names the museum ticket among the inclusions. One of the cheapest group tours guides you outside only. Read the list on the product page.

Can I take my own guide into the museum?

Yes, for groups of eight or more with their own guide, with a compulsory free booking, one-hour entry slots and five minutes in each room.

Is there a tour in Spanish?

One, at €49 and about 100 minutes. Tiqets also lists its guided visit in English or Spanish.

Do these tours skip the queue?

They save you the ticket desk. No listing promises an empty entrance, so allow for some waiting at busy times.

Which format is best for a first visit?

A group tour of 90 minutes to two hours, at around €65, is enough for most first visits. Choose a small or private group if you want to hear every word.
