Guggenheim Bilbao Guided Tour in Spanish, 2 Hours, Art History Graduate Guide
The guide on this two-hour tour is a local with a degree in art history from the University of the Basque Country, and the commentary is in Spanish. The visit does not stay inside: it begins with the outside of the building, taking in the best angles on the architecture, and with a short account of why Bilbao was chosen to house a major museum.
The building is the first subject. Gehry's design opened in October 1997 and is clad in about 33,000 thin titanium sheets. Around it stand Jeff Koons' Puppy and Louise Bourgeois' Maman, and inside, the Atrium opens onto three levels of galleries.
Inside, the guide covers the permanent and temporary collections, entering them from different places so the interior can be seen from several perspectives. Nobody can see the whole museum in two hours, so the tour ends with directions for exploring the rest on your own, and the ticket allows re-entry on the same day.

- The meeting point is outside the museum, next to the door of the tourist office, very close to the monumental flower dog named Puppy. The guide carries an enabled guide card. It is important to have an operational phone number for the reservation in case anything unforeseen comes up.
