Three Guggenheim Museums, Three Very Different Visits
A concrete spiral on Fifth Avenue, titanium curves on a Basque river, a palazzo with a garden on the Grand Canal. What each ticket covers, how long a visit deserves, and when a guide adds something to going on your own.

What travellers say
The tours and tickets travelers rate highest
Two for each museum, picked from those rated 4.5 or higher by how many travelers have reviewed them, and never by what pays us best. Open the listing and check whether the museum ticket is included: not every tour on a Guggenheim page goes inside.

Entry ticket covering the Guggenheim's permanent collection and its temporary exhibitions, in the Frank Lloyd Wright building on Fifth Avenue, New York.

Independent, and checked
A Guggenheim guide that says what it could not confirm
This site is not the museum and not the Foundation. We read what the three museums publish, write down what a ticket covers, and date every price and rule on the day we checked it. Where a fact could not be confirmed, the page says so instead of filling the gap.
Two sections of guides sit behind this page: one to plan the trip, from the best month to go to what fits in a bag, and one on the museums themselves, from the real story of Wright's ramp to what the Bilbao effect can and cannot prove.
Plan your visit, in the order that works
Six questions that decide a Guggenheim trip, each with a guide you can read before you book.
Which Guggenheim is yours?
Three open museums compared by building, collection, time needed and cost, and who each one suits.
Best time to visit
Month-by-month climate for four cities, Venice's high-water season in one chart, and the months we rate best.
Tickets, discounts and passes
Every price in one dated place: the pay-what-you-wish hours in New York, Bilbao's combined ticket and Venice's discounts.
How to choose a tour
Ticket, guide or city walk? What "admission included" means, and what "skip the line" does not promise.
What to bring
Bag limits in three museums, what to wear by season, and the things the museums leave unsaid.
Itineraries by the day
A day on Fifth Avenue, two in Bilbao, a morning in Dorsoduro: sequences that work.
The dossier
We read every Guggenheim tour in our catalog. Few take you inside
About two tours in five include the museum ticket, and about one in four only shows you the building from outside. In New York it is about one in ten. In Bilbao the section matters more than the museum's name: the guided tours with admission nearly all include it, the city walks never list it.
A city walk and a guided visit are different products. Knowing which one you are buying is the cheapest way to save money here.
The museums, page by page
Three buildings, three collections and a fourth museum on its way, with the sources named and dated.
Wright's spiral
Sixteen years from commission to opening, a ramp a quarter of a mile long at three degrees, and why the facade is not marble.
Gehry and the Bilbao effect
The numbers behind the legend: who paid, how many visitors came, and what one building can and cannot explain.
Ten works in Peggy's palazzo
What to find on the Grand Canal, and the famous works people ask for that are not there.
Myths and curiosities
Twenty-three claims about the three buildings, each checked against the museum's own pages.
A glossary for visitors
Eighty terms, from oculus to vaporetto, in words you can use at the ticket desk.
Guggenheim Abu Dhabi
What is known, what the press reports and what has not been published yet, dated 3 November 2026.
Still deciding? Fifty questions, answered
Tickets, queues, photos, strollers, how long a visit takes: the questions visitors ask most, with the page that goes deeper.
