An adult ticket costs $30 at the Guggenheim in New York, €12 in Bilbao and €17 at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. Those are the full prices the three museums publish on their own sites, and we checked them on 3 November 2026. This page is the one place on guggenheim.museum where we keep current prices, so every other page of ours points here instead of repeating a number that could go stale.
A word on who we are: this site is independent and not affiliated with the Guggenheim museums or the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. We do not sell museum admission. Prices change with the season, so use the figures below to plan a budget and then confirm them on the museum's own ticket page before you pay. We say which source each number comes from, and we say when we could not read one.
How much does each Guggenheim ticket cost?
| Museum | Adult | Reduced | Free for |
|---|---|---|---|
| New York (Fifth Avenue) | $30 | $19 students and 65+ with ID; $19 visitors with disabilities | Under 12 (see the note below), members |
| Bilbao | €12 | €6 students 18 to 26; €6 over 65 and pensioners | Under 18, members |
| Venice (Peggy Guggenheim Collection) | €17 | €14 over 70 and other groups; €9 students under 26 and ages 10 to 18 | Under 10, visitors with disabilities and a care partner, members |
| Abu Dhabi (opens 11 December 2026) | AED 70, reported | Not published | Under 18, per news reports |
The three museums set age limits differently, which catches families out. New York's cutoff for children is 12, Bilbao's free band runs up to 18 and Venice's stops at 10. Student rules differ too: Bilbao gives its student price to ages 18 to 26, Venice to students under 26 with a current ID, and New York to students with ID and no stated age limit. Seniors start at 65 in New York and Bilbao and at 70 in Venice.
New York: $30, and when it drops to $1
The Guggenheim in New York sells one ordinary adult ticket at $30. Students and visitors 65 and over pay $19 with ID, and so do visitors with disabilities, whose care partners enter free. Children under 12 and members are free. The museum is open daily, and its Plan Your Visit page lists the prices above beside the hours.
Two details are easy to miss. Admission for a child of exactly 12 is not settled in the museum's own wording (details just below). And the military discount is real but the museum's discounts page names no dollar amount: it says active-duty and veteran U.S. military with valid ID get discounted admission, one ticket per member, bought online.
Is a 12-year-old free in New York? The museum says it two ways
The Plan Your Visit and discounts pages say children under 12 enter free. The museum's Family Programs page says children ages 12 and under receive free admission. Those two readings differ for exactly one age. We could not find a page that settles it, so we leave the call to you.
If your child is 12, ask the museum before the visit rather than trusting either wording, and do not assume the ticket will be waived at the desk.
How does Pay What You Wish work in New York?
Every Tuesday and Sunday from 4:00 to 5:30 pm, you choose what to pay. The museum's suggested contribution is $10 and the minimum is $1. On December 28 and 30 the window moves to 5:00 to 6:30 pm. The museum strongly recommends advance reservations, and says a limited number of tickets are sold on site during the window. In other words, turning up at 4:00 does not guarantee a ticket.
Older guides still describe a Saturday-evening free slot. The current museum pages do not mention one. We also found no source saying cash is accepted or required for the pay-what-you-wish window, so treat advice about bringing cash as one person's habit, not a rule. The museum closes at 5:30 pm on regular days and the last tickets are issued about 15 minutes before that. The pay-what-you-wish window ends at closing time.

| Museum members | Free; guests $5 when accompanied | Membership |
| Students, faculty and staff of five CUNY schools (Brooklyn, College of Staten Island, Hunter, Lehman, Queens) | Two free tickets | School ID |

Bilbao: €12, a combined ticket and a half-price hour
In Bilbao an adult pays €12. Students from 18 to 26 and visitors over 65 or retired pay €6, and anyone under 18 enters free, with children under 12 required to be with an adult. The museum offers a combined ticket with the Museo de Bellas Artes at €16 for adults and €8 for students and seniors, which is the cheapest way to see both. Visitors with disabilities get a reduced rate and a companion enters free. Groups pay a group rate from 20 entries.
Every ticket includes the audio guide, which you use by scanning a QR code with your own phone. Venice charges separately for the same thing. The museum states no recurring free day. The one price break built into the calendar is 50% off from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on the last day of each exhibition. A free weekend in October 2025, for the museum's anniversary, was a one-off reported by the local press, so do not plan around it.
| Ticket | Adult | Student 18-26 | Over 65 or retired |
|---|---|---|---|
| Museum only | €12 | €6 | €6 |
| Museum plus Museo de Bellas Artes | €16 | €8 | €8 |
| Last day of an exhibition, 4:00-7:00 pm | Half price | Half price | Half price |
Venice: €17, with discounts that depend on who you are
What the Peggy Guggenheim Collection charges
An adult ticket in Venice is €17. Visitors over 70 pay €14, and so do members of FAI, Touring Club Italiano and COOP, among others. Students under 26 with a current ID pay €9, as do visitors aged 10 to 18, school groups, military and city police in uniform or with ID, and holders of the Rolling Venice Card. Children under 10 are free. So are visitors with disabilities and a care partner, and official tour guides.
Discounted tickets booked online still require an ID that proves eligibility at the ticket office, so carry it. An audio guide costs €7 at the ticket office.
Is there a free hour in Venice?
Yes, but only for locals. On Thursdays from 2:00 to 6:00 pm the museum is free for residents of the City of Venice, people born in Venice, and students at Venetian universities and recognized vocational schools. A valid ID or student card is required, places are limited and the museum recommends booking. A tourist staying in Venice does not qualify.
What is the Dorsoduro Museum Mile discount?
If you hold a ticket from Gallerie dell'Accademia, Galleria di Palazzo Cini or Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection charges you €14 instead of €17. The scheme, called the Dorsoduro Museum Mile, runs the other way too. The Museum Mile page lists a reduced price at each partner when you show a Guggenheim ticket: €12 at the Accademia, €7 at Palazzo Cini and €15 at Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana on 3 November 2026. The special rates are valid for seven days after you buy the first entrance ticket. The partners set their own prices, so check them on their sites.
| Price | Who qualifies (selected) |
|---|---|
| €17 | Adult |
| €14 | Over 70; FAI, Touring Club Italiano and COOP members; Dorsoduro Museum Mile ticket holders |
| €9 | Students under 26 with ID; ages 10 to 18; school groups; military and city police; Rolling Venice Card |
| Free | Under 10; disabled visitors and a care partner; official tour guides; Guggenheim members |
| Free, Thursday 2:00-6:00 pm | Venice residents and people born in Venice; students at Venetian universities |
What will Guggenheim Abu Dhabi cost?
The museum opens on Friday, 11 December 2026, so on the day we checked it was not yet open. The figure in circulation is AED 70 for general admission, reported by the Emirates news agency WAM and by Gulf News. According to those reports, entry is free for under-18s, university students in the UAE, UAE citizens and residents aged 60 and over, and people with disabilities (with a free companion). The National adds AED 35 for teachers employed in the UAE and UAE military, and AED 50 for Fazaa and Esaad card holders. The museum's own ticket page loads as an empty shell without JavaScript, so we could not read a price there. No hours, closing days or house rules were published when we looked, and we will not guess them. Our page on what we know about Guggenheim Abu Dhabi keeps the running list.
Do city passes include the Guggenheim?
Sometimes, and rarely as a free extra. The museum's discounts page names four New York passes it accepts: New York CityPASS, New York Attraction Pass, Go City's New York Explorer Pass and The New York Pass. You show the pass to Visitor Experience staff when you arrive. We found nothing about passes for Bilbao or Venice on either museum's pages.
| Pass | What the museum's page says | What we could not confirm |
|---|---|---|
| New York CityPASS | Guggenheim plus four other attractions, nine days, savings of up to 51%; 10% off at Café Rebay. CityPASS lists adults at $149, ages 6 to 17 at $129, and a $2 per-ticket fee | Whether it beats $30 for you: it depends on the other four attractions you pick |
| Go City Explorer Pass | 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 10 choices, 60 days to use | Which tier lists the Guggenheim as a choice |
| The New York Pass | Entry to more than 100 attractions | Which day and ticket length includes it; the pass page we tried returned an error |
| Attraction Pass | From $69; the pass's own claim of savings up to 88%; hop-on hop-off bus included | The savings figure is the pass seller's, repeated by the museum |
A decision rule: with CityPASS at $149 and the Guggenheim at $30, the other four attractions must cost more than $119 at their own gates for the pass to pay off. If the Guggenheim is the only museum you want, or you can make the Tuesday or Sunday window, a pass is a poor fit.
What do resellers add to the price?
Third parties sell tickets and tour products that include a Guggenheim visit, and they price in their own service. One independent guide to the Venice museum lists a GetYourGuide ticket at €18.50, which it frames as the €17 door price plus €1.50 for a guaranteed timed slot, while the header of the same page says "from €19". The two numbers on that page do not agree with each other. CityPASS shows a $2 per-ticket fee on its own page. Neither is a scandal; the point is that a price you see on a marketplace is not the museum's price.
On this site, links to tours and tickets are partner links, and we may earn a commission if you book through them, at no extra cost to you. What those partners sell is their own product. It is not the museum's ticket and it is not an admission upgrade we control. Read the listing for three things: whether admission is included, whether a guide is included, and whether you pick a time slot.
Can you buy a Bilbao ticket from a third party?
This one needs care. The museum's legal notice says online ticket scalping is expressly prohibited, and it forbids giving third parties access to the ticketing service from any channel other than the museum's own website. Online tickets are not subject to the right of withdrawal and cannot be returned, although the museum will refund or reissue one if the museum itself is the reason you cannot use it. We are not lawyers and we do not know how each marketplace structures its Bilbao products. What we can say is the practical rule:
If you only want to enter the museum, buy the €12 ticket from the museum's own website. If a listing is a guided tour with admission, treat it as that provider's tour, and read exactly what it promises.
Venice costs beyond the ticket: access fee and vaporetto
The City of Venice's Access Fee trial for 2026 ended, and the official site states that as of 27 July 2026 it does not apply. The fee comes back in 2027 on 72 listed days, from 26 March to 15 August. The City says the arrangements will be announced by 31 December 2026, and no 2027 amount has been published. Figures reported for 2026 are no guide. Check the City's Venezia Unica site before you travel in that window. The fee is separate from the €17 museum ticket.
Getting to the museum by water costs extra, and the prices below are AVM's own, checked on 3 November 2026. Tickets must be validated at the start of each journey and again each time you change vehicle. They are not valid on lines 16 and 19, on the casino line or on any Alilaguna service.
| Ticket | Price |
|---|---|
| 75 minutes, urban network | €9.50 |
| 24 hours | €25 |
| 48 hours | €35 |
| 72 hours | €45 |
| 7 days | €65 |
| 72 hours, ages 6 to 29, Rolling Venice Card (card costs €6) | €27 |
| Airport bus, 75 minutes (single / return) | €10 / €18 |
Directions and stops for the museum itself are on our getting there page.
Do you need to book Guggenheim tickets in advance?
For an individual visitor, none of the three museums' pages we read makes advance booking compulsory for an ordinary ticket. That is a reading of what is published, not a guarantee, and it can change on busy dates. What the pages do say:
| Museum | Individuals | Compulsory booking |
|---|---|---|
| New York | Tickets can be bought online; on-site sales are limited during pay what you wish | Groups of ten or more and any third-party guided visit; pay-what-you-wish is strongly recommended, with limited on-site tickets |
| Bilbao | Buy online or at the desk; the ticket office closes 30 minutes before closing | Groups over 20 should book at least a week ahead; third-party guides with groups of 8 or more must register (free) |
| Venice | Online is advisable, choosing an entry time until slots sell out; tickets are also sold at the ticket office | Private guides must contact the museum beforehand |
In Venice the ticket office closes at 5:00 pm, so arrive earlier than you think. Buy ahead for a summer weekend or a Biennale year, and for the New York pay-what-you-wish window whenever you can.
Which wrong numbers are still circulating?
We read competitor guides while preparing these pages. Several repeat figures that no longer match the museums. A New York pay-what-you-wish slot on Saturday evening, and Wednesday and Thursday closures, appear in older guides; the museum now lists Tuesday and Sunday 4:00 to 5:30 pm and opens every day. At least one guide to Bilbao still quotes €18 for an adult, while the museum's page says €12. Another guide dates its Bilbao prices "verified March 2026" yet describes events in October. If a date on a ticket guide is older than a couple of months, assume the price is too.
Ticket and discount questions
How much is a Guggenheim Museum ticket in New York?
$30 for adults, $19 for students and visitors 65 and over with ID, free for children under 12 and members (checked 3 November 2026). Pay what you wish applies on Tuesday and Sunday from 4:00 to 5:30 pm.
Is the Guggenheim free on any day?
New York has a pay-what-you-wish window, not a free day: suggested $10, minimum $1. Bilbao lists no free day. Venice is free on Thursday afternoons for residents only.
Are children free at the Guggenheim?
It depends on the museum: under 12 in New York (the museum words this two ways, so ask about a 12-year-old), under 18 in Bilbao and under 10 in Venice.
Can I use a student discount if I am not in college?
Only with qualifying ID. New York asks for student ID, Bilbao for ID showing age 18 to 26, and Venice for a current student ID for those under 26. Venice also has a €9 rate for ages 10 to 18.
Does the Bilbao ticket include an audio guide?
Yes. The museum states that the audio guide is included in every ticket, played through a QR code on your phone. Venice charges €7 for its audio guide.
Is there a cheaper way to see Bilbao's Guggenheim and another museum?
The museum sells a combined ticket with the Museo de Bellas Artes: €16 for adults, €8 for students and seniors. Last-day exhibition hours from 4:00 to 7:00 pm are half price.
Do I have to pay the Venice Access Fee to visit the museum?
Not in 2026: the trial ended and, as of 27 July 2026, the fee does not apply. It returns in 2027 on 72 listed days from 26 March to 15 August. The amount had not been announced when we checked, and it is separate from the museum ticket.
How much is Guggenheim Abu Dhabi?
News outlets report AED 70 for general admission, with free entry for several groups. The museum opens on 11 December 2026. We could not read the price on its own ticket page.
