Two versions are sold under this listing, and they differ on the one point that matters most: whether the group goes inside the Guggenheim. The private tour includes transport and entry tickets, and the guide leads through both the historic streets and the galleries. The shared tour includes transport and a guided visit to the museum's exterior, from the best viewpoint on the bridge. Interior tickets are not included for shared groups.

Either way the day begins in the Casco Viejo, in the Siete Calles, and passes the Ribera Market, the San Anton church and bridge and the Santiago Cathedral. The story runs from Bilbao's 14th-century roots to its modern skyline. The route continues to Plaza Nueva, with a stop for a traditional pintxo and wine.

On the private version the museum gets two hours: Gehry's building, opened in October 1997 and clad in about 33,000 thin titanium sheets, and the galleries inside. The Ribera Market opened in 1929 and covers 10,000 square meters. A three-course menú del día is available for travelers who prefer a sit-down lunch to the pintxo.
