Private 4-Hour Walking Tour of Bilbao and the Guggenheim with a Local Guide
Four hours, private, and adjustable. Some travelers spend more of it inside the museum, others on the streets, and the guide changes the route to match. Outside the Guggenheim there are two ways to go. The modern side of Bilbao takes about two hours and covers the Alhóndiga cultural center, the Isozaki Atea towers and the City Hall along the river. The Casco Viejo covers the Arriaga Theater, Plaza Nueva, the exterior of the Cathedral and the Ribera Market.
The older stops lean on stone and pilgrimage: the seven streets of the Casco Viejo, the Gothic Santiago Cathedral, which stands on the Northern Way of the Camino de Santiago, and the Basílica de Begoña, seen from outside. The Ribera Market opened in 1929. On the modern side, the Alhóndiga began as a wine warehouse built between 1905 and 1909 and was reworked by Philippe Starck.
The tour usually begins at the Guggenheim, which makes it easy to put a museum visit and a walk through the city in the same morning or afternoon.
