Half-Day Bilbao Trip from San Sebastián: Artxanda, Ribera Market, Guggenheim Audio Guide

The day starts with a view of Bilbao before the group goes into it. Private transport and a local bilingual guide take the group from San Sebastián to the Artxanda Viewpoint, which gives a clear overview of the estuary, the bridges and the way the city has grown. A guided walk through the Old Town follows, with the Seven Streets and the Ribera Market, where the guide explains the city's commercial roots, its industrial past and its social change.

The Guggenheim comes last, as an audio tour inside the museum with the audio guide provided, covering the architecture and the key exhibitions. Lunch is a short break on your own and is not included, and the group is back in San Sebastián in the middle of the afternoon.

The stops have some history behind them. Artxanda has its own funicular, in service since 1915, and the Ribera Market opened in 1929 and covers 10,000 square meters. The Guggenheim, opened in October 1997, is clad in about 33,000 thin titanium sheets.
