Private Custom Bilbao Walking Tour, Route Planned with Your Guide in Advance
Nothing is fixed until the guide has asked questions. Before the walk, the guide contacts the guests to find out what they like, and the route is built from the answers. That makes this the product for visitors who find Bilbao hard to read on a first trip and would rather have a local do the translating.
By default, monuments, museums included, are seen from the outside while the guide tells stories about the city's culture and history. A visit inside a museum can be added if it is requested in advance. The typical list has five places. The Guggenheim opened in October 1997 and anchors the modern district. Plaza Nueva is a classicist square with bars, restaurants and shops under the arcades. The Zubizuri is a pedestrian bridge whose name is Basque for White Bridge. The Fine Arts Museum holds more than 8,000 works from the 12th century to the present. Azkuna Zentroa, the former Alhondiga, was designed by Philippe Starck with Thibaut Mathieu and opened to the public in stages in 2010.
The format suits families, solo travelers and couples.
