Peggy Guggenheim and Dorsoduro Art Mile Guided Walk from the Accademia, 2 Hours

This one starts at the Gallerie dell'Accademia, not at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, and spends as much time outdoors as inside. It lasts two hours, includes the museum entry, and covers the part of Dorsoduro known as the art mile.

Peggy Guggenheim bought Palazzo Venier dei Leoni in 1949 and lived there for thirty years. The guide tells her story first, then takes the group through the collection. The palace was begun in the middle of the eighteenth century and only the first of its five planned floors was built, so the house sits low on the canal. Temporary exhibitions are outside the guided visit.

The route continues along the art mile, and the Zattere promenade and Giudecca island are among the places to photograph. The museum is closed on Tuesdays. The tour is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnant travelers, or those with poor cardiovascular health.
