The Guggenheim here is a self-guided visit: visitors explore the museum on their own, and the audio guide is included in the ticket price. The rest of the day is a drive from San Sebastián along the Basque coast, with stops for photos.

The museum comes first, with limestone blocks set against curved forms covered in titanium and lit through glass curtain walls. From there the route follows the Nervión past the Arriaga Theatre and the City Hall, the Calatrava bridge and the Isozaki towers, part of the infrastructure investment behind Bilbao's regeneration. The coast road then reaches Gaztelugatxe, a rocky island with a chapel at its peak, for a picture, passes the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve on the way to the fishing village of Mundaka, and arrives in Gernika for an introduction to Basque history.
