Private Gaztelugatxe, Pintxos and Guggenheim Audio Guide Day Trip from San Sebastián
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
San SebastianThe day links two very different Basque places by private transport, with a local guide and no rush. The first is San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, the hermitage on the coast that became Dragonstone in Game of Thrones. The trail goes down toward the islet, then 241 steps lead to the top, with views over the Cantabrian Sea. The path is uneven, and weather can change the plan: on orange-alert days the authorities advise against the climb.
The second is Bilbao. The Old Town and the estuary show how seafaring traditions and industrial reinvention shaped the city. La Ribera Market, which opened in 1929, is on the walk, and a pintxos lunch with four pintxos and four drinks comes with the guide's recommendations.
The visit inside the Guggenheim Museum includes an audio guide, Frank Gehry's titanium-clad architecture and the key contemporary works. Outside stand two of its best-known sculptures, Louise Bourgeois's giant spider Maman (1999) and Jeff Koons's flower-covered terrier Puppy (1992). Tickets for both Gaztelugatxe and the museum are in the price.
