San SebastianThe day leaves San Sebastián at 8:30 in the morning and runs 8 to 9 hours. The Guggenheim comes first, about an hour away on the highway: the guide walks the group around the building for photos, then to the entrance to get the tickets. The titanium-clad museum opened in 1997, and Jeff Koons's Puppy and Louise Bourgeois's Maman stand outside.
After Bilbao the road turns to the coast. Zumaia has coastal cliffs, the San Telmo hermitage as a landmark and time for a short walk. Getaria is a small fishing village known for its restaurants, with charcoal-grilled fish and seafood as the specialties, set in a wine-growing region, which makes it the lunch stop.
Food and drinks are not in the price, and the group is small, with commentary on board in English. The route suits anyone who likes taking photos.
